Mini Missionary Experience

So Saturday I went shopping for groceries. I was thinking in advance that I would like to surprise Corey with biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning (I did not realize today was fast Sunday - oops!) However, I had a very big problem. I had never made biscuits and gravy before, and an even worse problem....Biscuits and gravy are Corey's favorite breakfast food AND he loves his mom's the best! So I was a little intimidated. However I was on a mission. So I called my mom for a reciepe. I also bought backup packages of gravy in case I ruined mine. (From past experience, I knew the odds of screwing this up were high). I was still not sure of myself so I turned to the lady standing next to me in the gravy isle and asked for her advice. She assured me that I got the best brands and was on the right track.

We got to talking and she kept me company while I finished my shopping. Somehow, we got on the subject of religion. She was curious about Mormons because she had once talked to a couple of them on a bus and thought they were very friendly. She asked me the dreaded question "What is the difference between Mormons and the other Catholic religions?" Of course I froze up and couldn't remember anything we believed other than we had a living prophet. So I told her that and asked her right out if she would like to come to church with me. She said yes. Of course I did a double take and said "Are you serious?" and looked like an idiot because she surprised me, but she gave me her number and told me to call her to confirm later.

Unfortunately I was not able to get ahold of her before church today, but just maybe, she will be interested in coming next week. Anyhow, I enjoyed my member missionary experience.

In case anyone is wondering....Corey love my biscuits and gravy and said they tasted just like his mom's and he was very impressed that it was my first time making them.

  1. Good job you! Sounds like an awesome experience. I'm glad your biscuits and gravy were yummy. I can make pretty good biscuits, but I wouldn't know where to start with the gravy. I think I have made it once for Keith, but I don't like gravy so I don't usually think to make it.

By the way cooking meat gets easier the more you do it. I actually feel pretty comfortable now, but I have several good recipes and marinades.

  2. You're such a good wife. I'm definitely too lazy to get up and make breakfast. Unless we both have nothing to do that day so I have all day to do it. :)

  3. Biscuits and gravy? WOW! I'm having a hard time just spelling biscuit! You must have your mom's cooking genes.
Call that lady back. YOU may be her miracle!
    What a woman you are.
    Love you both!
