It was Corey's Dad's birthday so we went south to Beeville last weekend. We spent the entire time at the river. It had dropped a foot since we were here on the weekend of the 4th. That didn't stop them from enjoying the jet-ski's. We watched intensely to see if anyone would hit one of the many logs sticking out of the water. 
For anyone who doesn't know, this is a locust on a stick. Yes, it was already dead before they attached it to the stick. These huge insects are very common down here. They freak me out. However, it is pretty cool when they go through metamorphisis because they leave behind a beetle (the cocoon) but it is transparent and hollow. THAT is pretty cool to find.

One of Corey's uncles brought a hat with hair attached. We all took a turn with it. Some of us look better than others.

Umm..I'm going to vote that the hat be destroyed...not exactly flattering on anyone! :) Oh well, sounds like you had fun anyway. I wish Keith and I did fun things, but no, evidently we are just boring!

ReplyDeleteThat hat is hilarious... in a weird sort of way. Hmmm.. locust on a stick... is that like hot dog on a stick? Do they roast them and eat them in Texas? It could be a whole meal...it's huge! We missed you at the family reunion. We had so much fun, but we thought of you often. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI think you can get rid of the hat, it doesn't do any of you justice. I am glad we don't grow bugs like that in Utah. Congratulations on passing your test. That is a great accomplishment! We did miss you at the family reunion. It is not the same when all you guys are gone. Kristi sure missed you and Carlee. We did have a great time though. How could we not have fun when we are together and your mom makes such great treats. We did think of you. Hope all is going well and keep smiling!
